| Ron Holloway is one of the busiest tenor |
| saxophonist's on today's music scene in any genre! |
He has been touring internationally as a member of |

appear as a frequent special guest of the Allman |
Brothers Band, Warren Haynes & Gov't |
Mule, the Derek Trucks Band, Taj Mahal & |

Tenor sax giant Sonny Rollins said of Holloway; Ron |
is a very fine saxophone player. Not only is he very |
dedicated and intelligent, he's got his own original |
approach. He doesn't sound like all the other guys and |
that's saying a whole lot. I feel good that my legacy is in |
the hands of Ron and people like him. It's very gratifying. |

In the Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz, renowned |
jazz critic Ira Gitler describes Ron Holloway as |
bear-down hard bopper who can blow authentic |
R&B and croon a ballad with warm blue feeling. While true, |
this only begins to touch upon the versatility of the |
tenor saxophonist! Ron travelled the world as a |
member of legendary trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie's |
Quintet from June of 1989 until Gillespie's passing on |
January 6th, 1993. |

I used to work at a nightclub in DC called Desperados. |
Stevie Ray Vaughn was playing at Despo's- he had |
pretty much just started Double Trouble. Local saxman |
Ron Holloway was at the club that night. Ron has |
played with just about everybody over the years and |
during a break asked Stevie if he could sit in. Stevie |
Ray looked a little skeptical and said what do you want |
to play? Ron asked; do you know any Hendrix? The |
next set was the two of them blasting away on nothing |
but Hendrix tunes trading leads between guitar and sax. |
Just one of those magic moments! Rob Henry |
